Abruptly elevated from the Vice Presidency to the Presidency in 1974, upon the resignation of President Richard Nixon, the public knew little of this former U.S. Congressman. With quiet dignity he completed Nixon's term and restored confidence in the Presidency. Subsequently, Ford campaigned in NH for re-election.
