Kids Voting classroom activities introduce students to the concepts of citizenship in the earliest grades and continue through high school. After classroom preparation, students take part in a voting experience using a ballot that mirrors the actual election with the same candidates that their parents are choosing from. This “real life” practice dispels the mystery of the voting process and reinforces the knowledge and skills gained in the classroom activities.

As important is the family activity of going to the polling place together during which parents vote and students vote by checking in at the Kids Voting area and voting in Kids Voting booths. With the assistance of teachers and community volunteers, these votes are tabulated and reported out to the community.

Destination Democracy, a service-learning program for high school students, includes a variety of activities that focus on meaningful civic involvement through voting, voter registration, volunteering for political candidates, and addressing community issues.
