Franklin Pierce, the only person from New Hampshire to be elected U. S. President, is often labeled pro-slavery and the weakest President in history. Is this true?
This new permanent exhibition will examine how President Franklin Pierce lived his life by making choices that supported his beliefs and values – just as we do today. Through an array of objects and archival materials from numerous institutions and private individuals, we hope to spark renewed interest in the choices and challenges that faced President Pierce more than 150 years ago.
